Course Objective

Gain behaviors to music teacher candidates, to use their own voices healty, correct, beautiful and effective in speech and singing and gain competence in voice training instructor.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Learns basic information to use natural and healthy his/her own voice.
2   Learns basic elements in correct and aesthetic voice production.
3   Learns basic information to human voice system and physiology.
4   Learns different songs from Turkish and world voice literature.
5   Learns singing styles of songs that written different forms.
6   Learns musical singing with expression and interpretation practices.
7   Gains the ability to singing together.
8   Gets the lifelong learning habit.

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 Selection of opera arias that difficulties in terms of technique and musicality and students can sing.
2 Technical exercises. Working on technical solutions to the difficulties encountered in expressing Aria (appogiatür, mordant, grupetto, trill, portamento, recitatif, cadans etc.).
3 Continuation of studies on selected songs.
4 Continuation of technical explanations and interpretation studies on selected songs.
5 Technical exercises, Strengthening studies on songs with piano accompaniment
6 Technical exercises. Studies on examination songs.
7 Course repetition and Mid-term exam
8 Course repetition and Mid-term exam
9 To focus on differences in formal and performances concerned with lied, opera arias, Neapolitan, Aria Antique, musicals and folk songs.
10 Duet and trio works with students who have different voice color.
11 Continuation of singing together studies
12 Technical exercises and working of songs with piano accompaniment
13 Technical exercises. Identification of examination-oriented songs and detailed study.
14 Technical exercises, working on examination songs, detection and elimination of deficiencies. Strengthening studies with piano accompaniment and memorization of examination songs.
15 Final exam
