Course Objective

The purposes of this course is to let the students analyze and evaluate the research studies published in educational technology and related disciplines, according to the scientific research codes. Moreover, it is aimed that the students will conduct their probable future studies by taking into consideration of the information acquired from this course.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Explain the common issues encountered in scientific research reports.
2   Clarify the general problems encountered in designing scientific researches.
3   Express the research problems that are done during collecting the data.
4   Discuss data analysis procedure and indicate the problems encountered in validity&realibility studies.
5   Evaluate holistically the existing research studies in educational technology field, in terms of research problems.

1 Science and scientific methods: Descriptions, functions, types and stages.
2 Research in social sciences: Characteristics, types and functions of educational researches
3 Common issues encountered in research reports: Form and abstract
4 Common issues encountered in research reports: Organization and ethics
5 Common issues encountered in research reports: In-text citations and references
6 Introduction part: Research problem, main purpose and significance of the study.
7 Mid-term exam
8 Introduction part: Research questions, premises and literature review
9 Methodological part: Research method and design.
10 Methodological part: Participants, data gathering procedure and tools
11 Methodological part: Data analysis and validatity and realibility
12 Findings and interpretations: Common issues encountered
13 Results and Discussion: Common issues encountered.
14 Reviewing and evaluating the research studies in educational technology.
15 Student reflections and overall course evaluation
