Course Objective

The aim of this course is the definition of the disabled child, its classification, general characteristics, oral findings, psychological state, clinical approach and dental treatments. In addition, in order to protect these children from oral and dental diseases, it is to regularly visit the schools of the disabled and perform oral examinations, to organize the training of parents and teachers. In addition, to explain the preventive dental approach to be applied to disabled children treated with dental general anesthesia and sedation.

3   Defines dental approach techniques in disabled children.
4   Provides preventive dentistry training to parents and teachers of disabled children.

Assessment Criteria

The student defines the disabled patient and should be able to define its classification.
2. The student should be able to describe the mouth, teeth and general characteristics of children with disabilities.
3. The student should be able to define dental approach techniques for children with disabilities.
4. The student should be able to provide preventive dentistry training to the parents and teachers of children with disabilities.
5. The student should be able to describe the approaches of dentists in children with medical disabilities.
