General Description
History |
Architecture education in İzmir began in Ege Private School of Architecture and Engineering in Buca in 1963. Dokuz Eylul University Faculty of Architecture was founded in the 3rd of July in 1992. However, the establishment of the faculty and the launch of the education in Alsancak have begun in 1971 with 12 undergraduate students of Architecture. The department was affiliated to different faculties since its establishment. The milestones of the faculty from the past until today are summarized as; "Ege University Engineering Sciences Faculty Academy of Engineering and Architecture (1971), Ege University Fine Arts Faculty (1975), Dokuz Eylul University Faculty of Engineering and Architecture (1982), Dokuz Eylul University Faculty of Architecture (1992)". After the 23-years of education in the building in Alsancak, the faculty building moved to Kaynaklar Campus in Buca in the 2004-2005 academic year. |

First Cycle (Bachelor's Degree) diploma; minimum score of 55 from the National Central Graduate Education Entrance Examination (ALES) in the related field; a minimum score of 65 from the graduate school entrance exam; a minimum score of 60 from the nation-wide Foreign Language Exam ( YDS ) or equivalent score from an exam accredited by YÖK or a minimum score of 65 from DEU School of Foreign Languages English Proficiency Test. |
Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal) |
According to the Regulations of Dokuz Eylül University for Graduate Schools, students may be accepted for graduate transfer with the approval of the Department Directorate and decision of the Board of Directors of the Graduate School in case the student fulfills the graduate transfer regulations decided by the General Council of the Graduate School. Previously taken courses at another graduate programme with a successful grade may be recognized by the related programmes with the written request of the students including course contents and the transcript, and by the recommendation of the Department Directorates and by the decision of the Board of Directors. The courses taken by the outgoing Exchange students may have the recognition at the school either as compulsory or elective by the decision of the Board of Directors. |

Profile of the Programme |
The aim of M.Sc. in Structural Construction Design Program is the implementation of a multi-purpose program, which makes it possible for graduates of an architectural undergraduate program- to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to improve their expertise, competence and ability in all the areas of structure and construction (structure, material, processes of construction and work organization as well as fields that require specialty such as building physics, acoustics, earthquake management, sustainable building construction, building design with steel, energy performance, building economics, i.e.). As a result the program takes these principles as its basis: sharing works with the partners in their study area, with public and scientific fields at global and national levels by way of publications and thesis, and to obtain professional applicational adequacy in any medium. |

Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples |
Architecture graduates who have master's degree can work in a wide range of areas that their profession gives them opportunity to perform. Some of them work as academics and start to work as a research assistant at universities.They are also employed at different parts of the public sector.In addition, employment of graduate students can be as freelance office architects, project designers, construction site architects and designers who work on presentation (3D - three-dimensional presentation, model, etc.). |

Graduation Requirements |
Second Cycle (Master's Degree) Programme with thesis is comprised of courses (at least 54 ECTS), a seminar (3 ECTS), M. Sc. Research (3 ECTS) and M. Sc. Thesis (60 ECTS), in total 120 ECTS credits. Students must have minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.50 / 4.00 and completed all the courses with at least CB / S / TP grades. |
