Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Courses can be completed with assessment methods such as work of art and/or design and/or project and performance studies, in addition to methods such as written exam and report presentation, as required by postgraduate education in the field of art education. Exams, assessments and evaluations and their grading may differ for each course. Detailed information on this subject can be found in the lessons section of the curriculum.
The program consists of at least 7 courses, a seminar course, a specialization course and a thesis, with a total of not less than 21 local credits. The master s degree program consists of compulsory courses and elective courses. The total ECTS credits of the program is 120.
In addition to the midterm and final exams, evaluation methods such as reports, homework, quizzes, seminar presentations, art and design projects and performance studies can be used to evaluate the student's work performance during the semester. In order for a student to be considered successful in a course, his/her grade must be at least 75 out of 100.
The student has to retake the compulsory courses that he/she has failed. If he fails in the elective courses, he can take another elective course instead of that course with the approval of his advisor.
The courses to be taken by the student can be selected from the courses offered in other higher education institutions with the recommendation of the advisor and/or the head of the related institute's main art/department and the approval of the Institute Administrative Board, or they can be selected from the doctoral program courses if the advisor deems it appropriate and necessary. The Institute determines how much of the courses taken from other higher education institutions can be counted as a minimum course load, provided that it does not exceed 9 credits. At most two of the courses to be taken by the student can be selected from the undergraduate courses, provided that they were not taken during the undergraduate education.
Seminar course, specialization and thesis work do not have credits according to the local credit system and are evaluated as successful or unsuccessful.
The thesis advisor is assigned to the student at the end of the first semester. In the third semester, the thesis study starts and the thesis work appears as 30 ECTS in the course load.
A student in a master's program with thesis has to write the results of his thesis in accordance with the thesis writing rules of the Fine Arts Institute and defend his thesis orally in front of the jury.
In the major branches where the graduation thesis is completed both in written form and in the form of an art/design project or performance evaluation, the student s works are evaluated separately from both studies.
After the thesis exam is completed, the jury decides to accept, reject or correct the thesis with absolute majority. The student, whose written and/or art/design project or performance evaluation parts of the thesis are decided to be corrected, defends his/her thesis again in front of the same jury by doing the necessary corrections within three months at the latest. If the student's thesis is rejected, a new thesis title is determined.

Graduation Requirements

Second Cycle (Master's Degree) Programme with thesis is comprised of at least 7 courses, not being less than 21 national credits, a seminar and specialization courses and thesis studies, in total 120 ECTS credits.
