Course Objective

The aim of this course is to have the students comprehend the importance of documentation during textile restoration; to have them figure out at which stage the people educated on design officiate in this period; and to help them to specialize in their field.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   make technical analysis of the carpets and rugs, at the speciality level, to be restored at the documentation stage,
2   make academic researches to complete the missing parts of carpets or plain weavings schematically,
3   define carpets or rugs schematically by referring to the sources of their periodical features,
4   make restitutions by completing the missing part of carpets or rugs schematically,
5   present their restitution study effectively.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

The foreign studies, entities, institutions and plants related to the field are examined as well as scanning the related literature. Later on, the documentation stage, the most important part of restoration, is instructed by studying on a sample.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

A mid-term and a final exam will be given, related to the lesson subjects. Besides, the students are supposed to prepare a homework. The pass grade will be determined out of the mid-term, final and homework grades.

Assessment Criteria

The mid-term, the final and the homework will be evaluated out of 100. the 20 % of the mid-term, 20 % of the homework and 60 % of the final will determine the pass grade. The students will be informed about value of the questions.

Course Policies and Rules

70 % attendance is compulsory.
Before the end of the term, in the last 15 days, students will be able to learn their attendance. The students who have failed due to absenteeism will not be admitted the final exam.
At the end of each lesson, the next one s subject is given to the students as study and research subject. So, students come to the next lesson ready.
Students who are on sick leave will be considered absent, except the mid-term and the final exams.
By no means is the student given the exam again, if he does not take the mid-term or/and the final without any excuse.
