Course Objective

The aim of this course is to teach the students the drafts of parcel work and diameter in tile works, one of our chattel cultural assets. Moreover, the students will learn to provide the missing parts to complete the form, and to complete the pattern on the same form

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   make a decision related to the documentation of the parcel work in tiling forms,
2   be informed of the provision of the missing parts techniques with regards to form in Tiling Ceramics archaeological works,
3   use the technological and scientific resources in documentation stages of Tiling Ceramics parcel works ( drawing, photo etc.)
4   before the provision of the missing parts of archaeological works, define the work in accordance with material and production,
5   have professional responsibility and ethical awareness in accordance with the provision of the missing pattern-composition parts in the works having form unity
6   present the tile-ceramics forms whose missing parts have been completed effectively

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 Informing the students about the content of the lesson, which is about completing the missing parts in Tile works; defining the concept of restoration and studying principles
2 Documentation and definition: two of the preserving and restoration methods of Tile works
3 Profile drawing techniques in tile form parts and measuring the diameter with geometrical method
4 Measuring the diameter of the tile form the missing part of which will be completed, and documenting it
5 Measuring the diameter of the tile form the missing part of which will be completed, and going on the documentation by defining the work
6 In the tile works to be restored, introducing the working methods and materials to be able to de the application
7 Introducing the sticking and combining methods on a three- dimensional tile object
8 Completing the missing part of the form and giving information about completing methods
9 Restoration work after choosing a different tile form for each student
10 Going on with the restoration work
11 Going on with the works
12 Presenting the restoration project of the completed tile object and explaining the strategies of the work
13 Presenting the restoration project of the completed tile object and explaining the strategies of the work, and submitting the work by a written report

Assessment Criteria

The exams will be evaluated out of 100 in accordance with the number of the questions. The students will be informed about the value of each question before the exam. The grade will be determined in accordance with the answers. Project evaluation and presentation will evaluated out of 100.

The students coming into the class late will be admitted but accepted half-attended. All attendance will be evaluated by the rate mentioned above. At the end of each lesson, the students are informed about the following lesson s subject as a research subject. So, the lessons start with these researches and discussions.
