Course Objective

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To compare Tezhip (Turkish Art of Illumination) principles with examples of similar and different cultures, to analyze them and to introduce resources related with this discipline.
2   To explain and to report systematic data which are formed by comparing works of Turkish art of illumination and works of similar and different cultures' art using proper terminology.
3   To explain resource data about related discipline with its properties, to state similar and different aspects within development.
4   To report original pattern designs in an academic discipline by using study data.
5   To know the techniques of presenting original pattern designs with verbal seminars and practical ways and to be competent in these subjects.

7 Symbolic Motifs in the Turkish Art of Illumination and its functions in compositions
8 The functions of "semi - plant stylized animal motifs in compositions.
9 The functions of semi stylized animal motifs in compositions.
10 Thekinds of drawing and pattern design in Turkish Art of Illumination
11 The styles of pattern design in Turkish Art of Illumination
12 Pattern design and classic colors in Turkish Art of Illumination.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

In this course, it is expected to show the pattern drawing techniques of illumination with indicative stages of schematics and completed forms by drawing within at least one project; to explain the terminology, historical development and examples about pattern and drawing techniques with examples and to show design principles, properties and properties which are common and opponent in different disciplines.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

The course has 2 credits for theoretical knowledge and 2 credits for applications. There will be both midterm and final exam to evaluate students. In the exams, the degree of comprehension and understanding of the subjects in given course books and also the degree of skills in applications will be evaluated. A homework and a presentation which are prepared with the systematic of the comprehended course will be expected from students.

Assessment Criteria

In order to number of analises designs and , the mark distributions and an project out of 100 points will be announced before the lecture and the total result will be evaluated. The project, homework presentation and attendance will be evaluated out of 100 points.

Course Policies and Rules

Students who come to class late are evaluated as attended the half of the class. All of the attendances are evaluated in order to percentages given above. At the end of the classes, the subject of next class is announced to students as study-research subject. The course begin with the discussion of study- research results before presentation of the subject.
