DEGREE PROGRAMMES

: Translational Oncology

General Description

History

Dokuz Eylul University Oncology Department Translational Oncology Doctorate Program was established in 2016 with the approval of YÖK. Those who have a master's degree in Translational Oncology and Basic Oncology and graduates who are medical specialists or who have a doctorate in medicine have the opportunity to pursue a PhD in Translational Oncology.

Translational oncology is a process that evolves from basic laboratory research to develop new therapies for the treatment of cancer and requires an interdisciplinary structure that is constantly expanding and intertwined. Doctorate specialists who are competent in clinical studies in the field of oncology, which are few in our country, can work in Medical, Pharmaceuticals, Biotechnology, Biomedical Industry R&D Laboratories, R&D Institutes and Universities, can follow international scientific and technological developments, are open to innovation and are compatible with teamwork in result-oriented studies. The program is planned to be opened in order to train people and R&D personnel and to train competent managers and personnel who will ensure national development in the medical device and pharmaceutical sector.

In our department, faculty members from the basic sciences (Basic oncology, Biostatistics) and clinical branches (Medical Oncology, Pathology, Internal Medicine, General Surgery) of the Oncology Institute and Faculty of Medicine are located. The language of the program is Turkish.

Qualification Awarded

Translational Oncology Ph.D.

Level of Qualification

Third Level (PhD)

Specific Admission Requirements

Second Cycle Degree in the same or in related disciplines. Acceptable score on ALES (Academic Personnel and Graduate Education Entrance Exam) or Equivalent GRE, GMAT score. Acceptable score on Language Proficiency Tests. Acceptable weighted score based on the first or second cycle (with thesis) cumulative grade point average (GPA) and ALES score. However, ALES requirement is waived for the graduates of doctorate /arts proficiency/medical residency/ dental residency/ veterinary residency/ pharmaceutical residency programs as well as for the admissions to the graduate programs offered by the Conservatory and the departments of Fine Arts Faculty, where students are admitted only by the Artistic Aptitude Test. Final admission is based on the evaluation of the related academic unit committee. International student admission requirements are decided by the Graduate School Executive Committee.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

Successful students who have completed at least one semester in the graduate program of a higher education institution, from within or outside the University, can be admitted to the institutes through horizontal transfer. Students who successfully complete the postgraduate entrance exams may be exempted from the courses they have taken during their education in other institutes deemed appropriate by the institute administrative board upon the proposal of the department. However, the total credit of the exempted courses cannot be more than 1/3 of the credit required to complete the relevant program.

Must complete each course with a minimum grade point average of 2.50/4.00 and a minimum grade of 2.50/4.00 (CB/S/TP).

Profile of the Programme

Translational oncology is a process that evolves from basic laboratory research that develops new therapies for the treatment of cancer and requires an interdisciplinary structure that is constantly expanding and intertwined. In addition to the development of new therapies, the yet unresolved foundations of cancer are among the reasons that force a new approach in this field. In addition to a new medical approach, it is also an important rapidly developing field of biomedical research due to its focus on therapy. PURPOSE OF THE PROGRAM: A small number of clinical studies in the field of oncology, which are competent in the field of clinical research, Medical, Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, Biomedical Industry R&D Laboratories, R&D To train PhD scientists and R&D personnel who can take charge in Institutes and Universities, follow international scientific and technological developments, are open to innovation, and are compatible with teamwork in result-oriented studies, and to train competent managers and personnel who will ensure national development in the medical device and pharmaceutical industry.
