Course Objective

To learn principles of lab-on-a-chip technologies.
To be familiar with techniques in microfluidics, biosensors and nanotechnology.
To understand cell based bioengineering applications.
To understand the importance of lab-on-a-chip technologies in biomedicine.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To understand fundamental principles of lab-on-a-chip systems in biomedicine
2   To be able to distinguish physical and biochemical aspects of BioMEMS technologies
3   To learn design principles of lab-on-a-chip systems
4   To learn different lab-on-a-chip systems
5   To learn cell culture techniques on lab-on-a-chip systems
6   To understand the potency of bioengineering in biomedicine
7   To understand tissue and disease models applications using lab-on-a-chip systems
8   To be able to access literature, present and discuss bioengineering approaches
