Course Objective

To learn the basic concepts about the regulation and defects of cellular processes, gene expression and cell cycle as well as chromosomal abnormalities, gene mutations and epigenetic changes in order to understand and apply at molecular pathology and using correct terminology.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Students will be able to understand the flow of the genetic information flow, mechanisms of gene expression and signal transduction.
2   Students will achieve the basic concepts about the chromosomal structure and abnormalities as well as genetic diseases related to chromosomal abnormalities.
3   Students will be able to understand the types of mutations (point, deletion, insertion, etc.) and apply the terminology.
4   Students will be able to understand the epigenetic changes and their relation with diseases.
5   Students will be able to understand the mechanisms of DNA repair and the relation with diseases.
