Course Objective

The purpose of this course is to provide terms and concepts that form the basis of the science of chemistry and the basic theories of these concepts. The main objective of this course is to give fundamentals of chemistry covering matter and measurement, the basic structure of the atom, formation of molecules and ions, the quantitative nature of chemical formulas and chemical reactions focusing on aqueous solution, chemical bonding, gas laws and properties of liquids, solids and solutions.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   know the properties of the substance and able to express these properties with units of measure.
2   associate with the atomic structure of the periodic table.
3   understand chemical formulas, chemical equations and stoichiometric calculations
4   explain chemical bonding, molecular geometry, and the basic concepts of molecular orbitals
5   express the fundamental definitions of gases, liquids, solids and physical properties of the solutions and predict the behavior of molecules
