Course Objective

This course will discuss gender equality in Turkey. In this context, the course shows the impact of the patriarchal structure in the social structure, will try to demonstrate to women, men and al others. Course aims to provide the awareness that gender equality should be also considered in the field of urban planning and if it is possible it means questioning the feasibility / aims to suggest.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   to learn what the gender equality means
2   to list the past experiences on the differences between women and men of spaces
3   to interpret the current planning approaches
4   to analyze the importance of gender friendly cities, woman friendly cities etc
5   to unite the different approaches in the area of planning
6   to evaluate the approach in the Turkish system to gender equality
