Course Objective

The primary purpose of the course is to raise learner s awareness on the fact that cultural diversities across the world persist, despite the ongoing and ever-accelerating process of globalization. By the same token, it is also aimed that the learner be aware of the impact of cultural diversities upon business practices throughout the world. For this purpose, the main spheres of culture across the world will be studied with reference to their particularities and contribution to the global culture as well as their role in the international business environment.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Be able to develop arguments on the impact of cultural diversities upon business practices.
2   Be able to distinguish the major areas of culture and civilisation across the world, with particular respect to differing economic activities and business practices.
3   Be able to analyse and interpret the different entrepreneurship patterns referring to their cultural and historical background

Assessment Criteria

1. The learner will explain the impact of cultural diversities upon business patterns, to make use of this information both in other related courses and in his/her future business carrier.
2. The learner will recognize the major streams of culture and civilization throughout the world, making inferences on their implications for the global business environment.
3. The learner will demonstrate the difference among types of entrepreneurship in various regions of the world, in order to assess their role in doing business with these regions.

Course Policies and Rules

1. Although the course is mainly based on lectures, around 20 % of each session is intended for class discussion, based on the lecture itself and assigned readings. Therefore, students are expected to be prepared for class participation at each session.
2. Attending at least 70 percent of lectures is mandatory.
3. Plagiarism of any type will result in disciplinary action.
