Course Objective

The aim of this course is to discuss translations/translators not only on a linguistic or textual basis but on a socio-cultural context by making students aware of current issues in translation studies.. The objective is to get students adopt the habit of current issues in translation profession.

1   Explain translations function in culture
2   Define social and ethical responsibilites of translators
3   Analyze publishing house, editör, and translator relations and realize their impacts
4   Analyze and discuss basic culture-specific problems in translation and interpreting
5   Track and evaluate translation process in the translation market
