Course Objective

The course objective is to add more advance skill to students who have been introduced to basic skills in Consecutive Interpreting I and make sure that they reach a level of performing the interpreting practice without difficulty by doing as many exercises possible.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   They can strengthen consecutive interpreting techniques with practice.
2   They can evaluate an interpreter and interpreting practice objectively.
3   They can make efficient use of body language.
4   They can speak both English and Turkish with the proper tone of voice and intonation
5   They can do preliminary research and terminology work for consecutive interpreting.
6   They can address audience properly.

Assessment Criteria

1. Exams
Throughout the semester two exams will be given:
Midterm (%20)
Final exam (%20)
Both are oral exams in which students will be asked to interpret a speech consecutively.
2. Homework and participation
Students will be graded separately for each class. The text, presentation or the title of the topic of the week will be given before each class and students will be asked to attend the class fully prepared. In each class students are expected to participate in the activities and contribute to the class with their preparation.
3. Presentation
Students will prepare one presentation throughout the semester by role-playing a speech and its interpreting as pairs

1. Attendance is compulsory.
2. Students are required to come to the class prepared.
3. All kinds of attempts at plagiarism will result in disciplinary action.
4. Non-attendance will not be considered as an excuse for late submission of homework.
