Course Objective

The aim of this course is to develop language skills that will enable students to read and understand English resources in the aviation field, to acquire English communication skills that can follow important topics of the sector by analyzing various publications on the air transportation industry and to use English terminology effectively in aviation.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Learns grammar rules to keep up with current events related to civil aviation.
2   Uses English communication skills effectively from passenger services to all operational operations services.
3   Reads, understands and evaluates texts written in connection with an operation process at airports and works related to aviation.
4   Has the language competencies to follow the English aviation terminology.

Course Contents

1 Introduction to air communications: Setting the scene, basic of the radio communuciation, introduction to non routine situations.
2 Preflight: Preflight checks, delays and problems, local conditions.
3 Preflight: Preflight checks, delays and problems, local conditions.
4 Ground movements: airport markings and airside vehicles, taxiing and holding, weather problems.
5 Ground movements: airport markings and airside vehicles, taxiing and holding, weather problems.
6 Departure, climbing, and crusing: Take off, encountering traffic, warning about hazards.
7 Mid-Term Exam.
8 En route events: operational situations, unusual events, medical situations.
9 En route events: operational situations, unusual events, medical situations.
10 Contact and approach: Descent, circuit joining, approach and landings problems.
11 Contact and approach: Descent, circuit joining, approach and landings problems.
12 Landing: Landing incidents, runaway conditions, landing hazards.
13 Landing: Landing incidents, runaway conditions, landing hazards.
14 On the ground: Taxiing, getting to the gate, clear communication.
15 Final Exam.
