Course Objective

The aim of the course is to provide necessary knowledge and understanding regarding the current economic structure, system and process of modern Turkey.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Describe the major economic events of recent date in Turkey.
2   Identify the major actors and institutions of Turkish economy and their roles in the economic system of Turkey.
3   Recognize the recent macroeconomic and international economic policy approaches that have been applied by Turkey s economic policy makers and identify the effects of these policies on the economic process
4   Recognize the development of the agricultural, industrial and services sectors in Turkish economy.
5   Be able to participate in relevant discussions on Turkish economy.
6   Prepare a research paper on a relevant topic.

1. The learner will demostrate understanding of current events in Turkish economy using relevant theoretical tools.
2. The learner will demonstrate knowledge of the major actors and institutions in Turkish economy.
3. The learner will be able to explain the different microeconomic, macroeconomic and international trade policy tools that have been applied/are being applied in Turkish economy together with their effects on the economy.
4. The learner will possess advanced knowledge on the sectoral developments in Turkish economy.
