Course Objective

The urbanization phenomenon from the Archaic period to the end of the Roman period will be discussed in Anatolia. In the historical process, the relationship of religion and politics, organizations and socio-cultural activities that shape the urban identity will be evaluated. The effects of these concepts on urban planning, urban landscape, architecture and art will be tried to be determined through Greco-Roman cities in Anatolia.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To able to define the stages of urban development in Anatolia,
2   To able to evaluate the elements taken into consideration in the establishment of the city,
3   To able to discuss the formation of urban organizations,
4   To able to explain the elements that determine the religious, cultural, political and economic structure of the city,
5   To able to distinguish urban planning, architecture and art styles,
6   To able to identify official and private structures.
