Course Objective

To learn general features of Islamic Turkish Literature and its historical progress; comprehending generals features of 13th and 14th century Anatolian and Ottoman Literature and analyzing primary works and authors.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Become familiar with the birthand historical-geographica lconditions of Classical Turkish Literature; and know its border and resources
2   Know the fundamental characteristics, major proponents and works of the 13th century Classica lLiterature
3   Know the structure of 13th century Classical literature using various texts and how to analyze them.

4 Mevlana: His life, works and impotance in Turkish culture and literature. Commentary of the first ten couplets from Nahifi translation.
5 Yunus Emre, his life, art and works. Commentary of one his odes from his collected poems.
