Course Objective

To gain clinical knowledge about the history of sleep medicine and sleep in newborns, children, adults and the elderly.
To gain knowledge on sleep and mechanisms of sleep
To gain knowledge on the pharmacology of medication used in sleep medicine.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To have knowledge on the phylogenetic development of sleep
2   To have knowledge on the scientific definition of sleep and the identification and correction of inaccurate information related to sleep.
3   To have knowledge on the maturation of sleep and healthy and unhealthy development of sleep.
4   To have knowledge on age specific sleep phases and sleep patterns.
5   To have knowledge on the functional anatomy and physiology of sleep.
