Course Objective

To teach student how to investigate a topic in Arabic language and literature, and which methods to use, and how to benefit from the sources. In addition, to give information about writing theses, articles and papers.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Student can identify a topic of Arabic language and literature, and determine its boundaries and prepare its content.
2   Student knows resources of Arabic language and literature and their properties.
3   Student knows how to benefit from indexes of classical sources, and other programs like Shamila.
4   Student knows how to collect information and how to compose.
5   Student knows the points must to be considered in writing a thesis, articles and papers

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

Midterm and Final Exam:
In Mid-term and final exam, the students are asked questions in classical style about research methods of Arabic language and literature and their salient features.

Homework:
The student collects information about a topic in Arabic language and literature benefiting from sources and writes a composition and then presents this composition in printed output.

Assessment Criteria

The students will be assessed based on success in their mid-term, homework assignment and final exams along with their performance during the classes throughout the semester.
