Course Objective

Aim of the course is to inform on contemporary textiles, their associated products, new technologies, their uses and design and output methodologies.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Know design and output methods of contemporary textiles and their associated products and design accordingly.
2   Know features of raw material and thread used in contemporary textiles and their related products
3   Beginning design processes involving contemporary textiles and their by-products.
4   Know of innovative and high-technology- based material and techniques and distinguish between them and given techniques
5   Change learned knowledge of contemporary textiles and their associated products into their own designing processes as finished products and prepare presentations on the matter.

1 Designing items and their properties produced within the contemporary textiles
2 Fiber art products and their characteristics created within contemporary textile For students to prefer themes for their own fields
3 Beginning design processes involving contemporary textiles and their by-products Starting research on their fields and preparation of conversion of theme projects into presentations
4 For students to start design sketches involving their majors for themes they have chosen
5 Presentations of field-based projects and sketching activities
6 Presentations of field-based projects and sketching activities.
7 Assesment of sketches and choice of major designs. Prepartion of the process of conversion of major designs into finished items.
8 Conversion of designs into finished items
9 Conversion of designs into finished items
10 Conversion of chosen designs and finished items into collections.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

1.Courses
Courses are supported with related knowledge and visuals and conveyed to students. The lecturer guides students to choose one of Ottoman weaving fabric types and needs them to do comprehensive research to be finally presented as a Powerpoint.
2.Revision session are weekly held by the lecturer at the first hour of the course. Powerpoint presentations required to be prepared are reviewed and accordingly corrected when necessary until the day of the presentation that students are supposed to do. During every course, classroom discussions are made involving the subject matter of the lecture, with the result that issues to be necessarily detailed are determined. Students are motivated to participate in classroom discussions and present their own approaches to related discussion.

Homeworks will be prepared and presented as powerpoints.
One articles will be written as homeworks.

1.Students is required to participate in 70 % of the course.
2.Any plagiarisms are sanctually punished by the disciplinary committe
3.Failure to participate in the course can not be regarded as a valid excuse or reason for late delivery of the related projects to be delivered.
4. A letter point is to be lowered per day of the late delivery in projects/ presentations
