Course Objective

The aim of this course is to explain banks' financial transactions with legal, application properties and technical dimensions, and show the methods for management of these transactions.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to learn Bankings economic functions and banking operations,
2   To be able to deposits' management which is the main funding source of banks ' and calculations about these,
3   To be able to management of banks' main fond usage and calculations about these,
4   To be able to learn liquidity management in banks,
5   To be able to learn resource management in banks.

2 I. DEPOSIT MANAGEMENT: Types of Deposit, , Internal / Controllable Factors at Deposit Management, Deposit Management Policies
3 Calculate the Cost of Deposit, Non-Deposit Resources and Management
4 Simple and Compound Interest Calculations for Turkish Lira Deposits, Detailed Deposit Interest Calculation, Elimination of Deposit Return from inflation
5 Simple and Compound Interest Calculations for Foreign Exchange Deposits, Foreign Currency Deposits Accounts Return on Elimination of inflation
6 II.CREDIT MANAGEMENT: Classification of Loans, Loan Guarantee Types, Types of Loans Risk Reduction Methods, Credit Pricing
7 Credit Profitability Analysis, Credit Yield Calculation
8 Management of Non-performing Loans (Midterm exam will also be held this week after course hour)
9 Interest Rate Calculation of Loans : (Direct and Hamburg Methods, Interest Calculation for Bank of Discount)
10 Interest Rate Calculation of Loans : (Interest Calculation of Discount and Purchase Bills, Revolving Loans and Interest Calculation)
11 Calculation of Monthly and Annual Cost Consumer Loans , Consumer Loans Instalment Calculator, Loan Closing Before Maturity, Special Occasions at Consumer Loans (Interim Payment and Reconstruction)
12 III.LIQUIDITY MANAGEMENT AT BANKS: I., II.ve III. Grade Liquids, Liquidity Index, Liquidity Adequacy Ratio (TL and FX), Liquidity Management Efficiency
13 IV. EQUITY MANAGEMENT IN BANKS: BASEL Regulations and Risk Ratio, Credit Risk and Reduction, Operational Risk, Equity Provision Methods
