Course Objective

To provide students with theoretical and practical knowledge in methods on understanding and interpretation, with using the knowledge and evaluate it.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Students will learn main ideas of philosophers and schools on existence, knowledge etc. in the first era of the history of philosophy.
2   Will learn philosophers and general characteristics of the Ancient Greek era, of the Middle Ages Christian Philosophy, and of Islamic Philosophy.
3   Will identify philosophical characteristics of Renaissance era with its main figures and their ideas.
4   Will analyze philosophical characteristics of the Enlightment era with its main figures and their ideas
5   Will identify possible contributions and outcomes of the history of philosophy to the theology discipline and how to apply those contributions to the lives of students.

2 2- Ancient Greek philosophy before Socrates (Milet School, Elea School, main ideas of pluralist philosophers. 13- General overview
3 3- Sophists, The goal and method of philosophy according to Socrates, Socratic schools such as Megara, Elis-Eretria, Kinik and Kirene schools and their main thoughts
4 4- Plato and his philosophy
5 5- Aristotle and his philosophy
