Course Objective

The course "Hadith and Hadith Texts" is programmed to be a continuation of the basic topics handle in two books called "Hadith History and Procedure" and "Hadith" prepared for Anadolu University Distance Education Faculty Theology Associate s Degree Program. The textbook comes into contact with hadith issues other than the topics handle in the first two classes of the Short Cycle and contains sample hadith texts from each of them with the introduction of six main hadith books (Kutub-i Sitte).

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   1. Learns that the main condition for claiming Muslim identity is to hold tightly to the two main sources that exist this identity (Quran and Sunnah).
2   2. Learns about the branches of science in which different aspects of the Prophet are explained and the works written in these fields.
3   3. Understands the role of transmission chain and text in detecting the measure of fact-weakness of hadith rumors and learns about criticism criteria in the chain of narrators and the text of hadith.
4   4. Identifies the general approaches of Abu Hanifa and the Hanafi scholars regarding Sunnah and understands that is an alliance of mujtahids on the evidentiary value of sunnah.
5   5. Learns the differentiation of orientalists' approach to hadiths and its causes and consequences, and gains a perspective on how to approach the work of orrientalists.
6   6. Gains the definition of "Dârulhadith", its formation, its importance in terms of hadith history, its contribution to hadith science and information about the Dârulhadith established during the Seljuk and Ottoman periods.
7   7. Improves the understanding of religion-environment relationship and the prophet's perception of the environment.
8   8. Comprehends the characteristics and varieties of hadith literature/corpus in the classification period; He learns detailed information about the Câmis (Buhari, Muslim, Tirmizi) and the Sunans (Abu Dawud, Nasai, Ibn Majah) through sample texts.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

1. The units are processed via video-conferencing method via Sakai system. Two different methods can be applied in the form of live lectures or watching previously recorded lecture videos at class time.
2. Presentation files of the units placed in the "Resources" section of the portal are brought to the screen, examples of history and current topics are given, and the student's participation is ensured by giving answers to the questions sent through the message window or from the chat room during the course.
3. Social media content such as photos, videos, news, audio and video recordings are used when appropriate.
4. It is important to review the "Recommendations" at the beginning of the unit and the "Resources" at the end of the unit and to check the web pages given as references between the subjects.
5. The "hadiths that should not be forgotten" (a total of 48 short hadith texts and descriptions) at the end of each unit are carefully followed.
