Course Objective

The objectives of this course are to develop the knowledge about the main elements and the principles of design, to understand the logic of three dimensional abstractions and perceptions related to basic design, to gain basic design skills by two- three dimensional spatial compositions and to realize studio practices that are based on the dot-line- plane- volume- space configurations.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Perceive the principles and the elements of basic design,
2   Associate the problems' data given related to basic design within themselves and with the design concepts.
3   Adjust the basic design principles into design problems and use them,
4   Criticize different design layouts that are developed within this process
5   To develop unique designs within the context of problems data that are criticized

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Courses / Application: At the first part of lectures, instructors will make presentations or assessments on the defined topic. At the second half of lectures, students will make three dimensional (modeling) design practices as class-works that make them apply the knowledge given. Students' practices will be directed by the course instructors.
Homework: Students will complete each class-work as three dimensional modeling homeworks and submit them next week. The course also includes the knowledge on modeling.
