Course Objective

To increase the knowledge and to improve practice skills about assessment, injury prevention, physiotherapy applications after injury and return to sport in sports physiotherapy

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Knows physiological basis of sports physiotherapy; summarizes athletic injuries and rehabiliation process
2   Sorts assesment principles after sports injuries and make individual-specific assesments
3   Describes injuries and healing proceses of soft tissues, bones and joints
4   Sorts physiotherapy applications after sports injury, composes and applies individual-specific physiotherapy program
5   Sorts return to work criteria and applies it in the field

1 Physiological basis of Sports Physiotherapy (Basic concepts: Performance, fitness, sport-specific development, muscular overload and overtrarning principles,etc.. ,types of muscle contraction, composing principles of exercise prescription)
2 Athletic Injuries and healing process
3 Assesment principles after sport injuries
4 Assesment principles after sport injuries
5 Athletic ligament injuries and healing process
6 Athletic tendon injuries and healing process
7 Muscle injuries in athletes and healing process
8 Bone and joint injuries in athletes and healing process
9 Columna vertebralis injuries in athletes and healing process
10 Physiotherapy applications after sport injuries (Hot & Cold modalities, electrotherapy applications)
11 Physiotherapy applications after sport injuries ( Flexibility training, Muscular strength and Endurance training, Proprioceptive and Plyometric training)
12 Functional rehabilitation and return to sport
13 Discussion on cases with athletic injuries and physiotherapy applications
14 Discussion on cases with athletic injuries and physiotherapy applications
