Course Objective

Students will develop their skills in prescribing and delivering exercise programs to promote health and fitness for those within the community with specific needs. Students will learn the educative and health promotion role of the physiotherapist in promoting safe participation in exercise in the community for all people across the lifespan. They will explore the evidence available for the effectiveness of exercise programs in the community.


Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Knows prescribing exercise programs to promote health and fitness for those within the community with specific needs.
2   Explains delivering exercise classes to promote health and fitness for those within the community with specific needs.
3   Knows educative and health promotion role of the physiotherapist in promoting safe participation in exercise in the community for all people across the lifespan.
4   Explores and interprets the evidence available for the effectiveness of exercise programs in the community.
5   Synthesises the collected informations and performs verbal and visual presentations about his results.
