Course Objective

To give information related to the fields of cardiothoracic, obstetrics and gynecology and general surgeries.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Knows cardiothoracic surgeries. 2   Knows genital organ anatomy, menstrual disorders and their treatment. 3   Knows the physiological process of pregnancy and labor, possible complications and contraception methods. 4   Knows the procedures of upper and lower abdominal, bariatric, breast and transplantation surgeries. 5   Knows postoperative pulmonary complications, liquid and electrolyte equilibrium.

Course Contents

Week Subject Description 1 Introduction to lecture 2 Open hearth and lung surgery, vascular surgery (CABG, vascular injuries, fistule, aneurysmectomy, etc.) 3 Respiratory arrest- cardiac arrest and recuscitation, pre-op diagnositic methods, preparing patient to surgery 4 Post-op patient follow-up in CICU, medications and equipments used, new applications in cardiothoracic surgery 5 Anatomy of the genital organs, menstrual disorders and treatment. 6 Pregnancy and body systems 7 Diseases affected by pregnancy (DM, HT, Cardiac and respiratory diseases, musculoskeletal system diseases, rheumatoid diseases) clinical problems related to pregnancy. 8 Labor, contraception methods, urogenital functions and diseases, gynaecological oncology 9 Mid-term exam 10 Liquid and electrolyte equilibrium 11 Abdominal surgery 12 Bariatric surgery 13 Breast surgery 14 Transplantation surgery 15 Postoperative pulmonary complications
