Week Subject Description 1 Definition of Pain, pain in Physiotherapy 2 Types and characteristic of pain, peripheral mechanisms of nociception (inflammatory mediators etc.) 3 Development of pain pathways, representation of pain in the brain. Autonomic, Endocrine, and Immune Interactions in Acute and Chronic Pain 4 Visceral pain, inhibition of pain 5 Emotion, Motivation, Cognitive and Learning Aspects and Pain 6 Objective and subjective assessment of pain 7 Manipulative treatment in pain Therapeutic heat and cold in the management of pain, hydrotherapy Electrotherapy in the management of pain 8 Exercises in the management of pain 9 Exercises in the management of pain 10 Coping with pain and the cognitive behavioral approach to pain management 11 Coping with pain and the cognitive behavioral approach to pain management 12 Pain assessment and management in neurological diseases (pain following spinal cord injury, post-stroke pain, thalamic pain syndrome, neuropathy) 13 Pain assessment and management in musculoskeletal diseases (back and neck pain, Complex Regional Pain Syndromes, Myofascial Pain Syndrome) 14 Cancer pain, Headache, post amputation pain, burn pain 15 overview
