Course Objective

The objective of this course is to improve English knowledge of students in order to make them use computer science materials in English. The course will include English equivalents of computer science terms and translation of computer science texts from English to Turkish.

1 The Importance of Technical English, Responsibilities of the Students Discussion and Translation of the Text about History of computers and; Basic units of computers and their operating principles
2 Discussion and Translation of the Text about Numeric Systems and Binary, octal, hexadecimal numeric systems and their conversions
3 Discussion and Translation of the Text about Algorithms and their properties; Flow-Chart Diagrams
4 Discussion and Translation of the Text about Subroutines; Recursive subroutines; Searching and sorting algorithms
5 Discussion and Translation of the Text about Programming Language and; Building an executable version of a program
6 Discussion and Translation of the Text about Data Types, Variables and Pointers; Conversion of data types
7 Discussion and Translation of the Text about Data Types, Constants; Pointers
8 Mid-term exam
9 Discussion and Translation of the Text about Operators and Expressions; Arithmetic operators; Relational operators
10 Discussion about Logical operators; Expressions, priority of expressions
11 Discussion and Translation of the Text about Control-Flow Statements; Conditional statements; Select statements
