Course Objective

This course aims to teach the reasons and the role of exhaustion and recovery; give information on the physiology of systems and their relationship with exercise; the role of exercise on preventing and treating diseases.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to explain the physiology and principles of exhaustion and recovery
2   To be able to explain the physiology of respiratory, cardiovascular and nervous systems and their relationships with exercise
3   To be able to explain the importance and application of exercise on preventing and treating diseases
4   To be able to perform tests and prepare exercise prescriptions for various ages and specific groups.
5   To be able to explain the physical, physiological and psychological characteristics of children, women and the elderly and to be able to explain the basic principles while performing exercise programs with these groups.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Lecturing, whole class and small group discussions, using audio-visual materials, question-answer sessions, cooperative learning, student presentations (some lessons will be practical and whole class participation will be involved).

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

The mid-term and the final exam will be theoretic and the assignments will be as presentations by the students.

Assessment Criteria

The comprehension and associating skills will be evaluated by means of mid-term and final exams; research skills will be evaluated by means of the presentations of their assignments.

Attendance is a requirement; regular attendants will be given bonus grades.
Those who violate the lesson will be required to leave the class.
Mobile phones are not allowed during the class hours.
Coming to the class on time is vitally important. All students are required to consider punctuality.
Illegal actions during the lessons and exams will not be forgiven; those who insist on
doing these actions will be sent to the discipline committee.
