Course Objective

At the end of this course, the students will be able to make a good observation on market research, establish the target audience, and identify fashion trends, colors, fabrics, accessories, decoration techniques as well as following new textile materials and products and technological developments and new methods in the production of clothing.

1   To be able to explore new ways in the global fashion market, follow the clothing, accessories and fabric production developments
2   To be able to identify the fashion trends and the forms of fashion clothing
3   To be able to identify the determinants of fashion trends
4   To be able to investigate the impact of sectoral effects of fashion trends from past to present
5   To be able to determine the reflection of color, texture, material and technological developments on current trends
6   To be able to prepare trend reports and fashion catalogs

1 Introduction of the course, contents and resources to be utilized
2 Fashion trends, the importance of storyboards in the process of identifying research themes and practices, and market research for the story boards
3 The process of determining the target audience based on demographic. Analysis of fashion trends by target group. Methods of preparing yarn color chart.
4 Methods of researching trends in fashion forecasting and trends in the textile and clothing industry. Methods of preparing color palettes and fabric swatches .
5 Fashion foresight and fashion trends research methods in the textile and clothing industry.
6 Analyzing color trends in line with fashion shows and sector fairs. Development of fashion forecasting.
7 Mid-term Exams
8 Mid-term Exams
9 Trend creators, trendsetters, fashion icons, style followers in fashion business, people and companies acting on trends. Identifying trends and surface texture of the fabrics.
10 Identifying new ornamental and decoration techniques used on fabrics and clothing.
11 Identifying color, material and style trends of current fashion accessory models.
12 Identifying the current production methods, changes and developments in material usage in clothing production. Detection of changes in digital transformation and production applications.
13 Dynamics in fashion product preparation stages. The importance of trends in fashion products.
14 Fashion style consulting. Determining collection trends in line with consumer preferences.
15 Final Exam
