Course Objective

To teach and inform about risk management tools and insurance practises in agriculture, agricultural insurance practises in developed and developing countries, technical aspect of insurance practises.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Being able to explain important of insurance as a tool for undertaking risk in agriculture.
2   Being able to display knowledge about agricultural insurance regulations and organizational substructure of insurance system.
3   Being able to analyse difference practises and policies in agricultural risk management with economic aspects.
4   Being able to practise with case studies and discussions in agricultural insurance practises.
5   Being able to determine loss assessment practises.

3 Risk theory: definition and categorization of risk, insurance of risk

5 Decision making under risk and uncertainty conditions, analysis of decision making in agricultire, behaviors of farmers in risk circumstances
6 Insurance pactises in agriculture (evaluation of insurance practises in EU, USA, Canada, Japan, Asian countries)

9 Agricultural insurance regulation and developments in organizational structure
10 Evaluation of Turkish agriculture respect to insurance practises, crops, animal husbandry, fishery products, agricultural machines, agricultural building and natural disaster (earthquake) insurance practises
