Course Objective

The main goal of this course is to give an understanding of fundamental issues on antenna and microwave techniques and, to review lossless and lossy transmission lines.

1 Fundamental concepts for antennas and microwave
2 Tranmission lines and waiveguides The behaviour of wave in transmission lines
3 Waves propagates along lossy / losses transmission lines The transmission line model for full-wave analysis
4 TEM, TE and TM modes for waiveguides Microstrip transmission lines and their types
5 Rectangular and circular waiveguides and, their general links
6 Circuit theory for waveguiding
7 Mid-term exam
8 Mid-term exam
9 Basic antenna concepts The definition and formulation of parameters
10 Antenna patterns, the scatter ground and radiation intensity
11 Wave polarity and its effect on antennas
12 Point sources and gain calculation Arrays of point sources
13 Electric dipole and linear antennas
14 Loop and helical antennas and, their parameters

Assessment Criteria

Five learning outputs will be measured by mid-term and final exams. Besides that, weekly assignments will be used to pursue the students learning achievements.
