Course Objective

The course aims to inform on definition, general properties and qualities of fabrics, basic constructions of nonwoven surfaces of woven fabrics types, comprehensively study characteristics and fields of use of woven and knitted material and analyse samples of fabrics based on the above.

1   Know of general properties of fabrics and their basic characteristics sought after .
2   Be aware of factors to effect fabric construction
3   Recognise types of fabrics
4   Distinguish woven ,nonwoven surfaces of fabrics
5   Know of differences likely to occur in terms of fields of use of fabric types.
6   Recognise differences in the process of sewing according to fabric types

5 Discussion of types of weaving fabric according to their raw material
6 Definition of properties of cotton-woven fabrics and their types through sampling
7 Definition of properties of cotton-woven fabrics and their types through sampling
8 Definition of properties of wool-woven fabrics and their types through sampling
9 Definition of properties of wool-woven fabrics and their types through sampling
10 Definition of properties of silk-woven fabrics and their types through sampling
11 Definition of properties of linen-ramie- artificial and sythtetics -woven fabrics and their types through sampling

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Courses
Lecturer leads students to associate between types of fabrics, kinds of garments and fields of consumption, find solutions to the problems concerned and make them prepare fabric cataloques and reports of fields of consumption.

Reviewing sessions and classroom discussions
Lecturer performs reviewing sessions at the first and the last hour of on-week courses classroom assigments and homeworks consist in problems to be solved in the above- said sessions and discussions. Students participation in classroom discussions, preparation of fabric cataloques and presantation of their approaches to the related processes.

1. It is compulsory to attend to lecture by 70%
2. Any attempt to commit piracy/plagiarism will be harshly punished by the disciplinary board
3. Nonattendance to the lecture can not be an excuse for students to deliver assigments /projects late
4. undue delivery of assigments/homeworks will be punished by reducing grade of one point per-day
