Course Objective

In this course; use of leather in leather products like bags, belts, wallets etc., use of leather types according to types leather products and presenting the knowledge learned in this course using scientific methods is taught.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   By the end of this course, students are expected to: Be capable of learning the types of leather used in Belt and their production technology
2   Be capable of learning the types of leather used in Bag and their production technology
3   Be capable of learning the types of leather used in decorative leather products and their production technology
4   Be capable of learning the types and the use of stout leather in leather products
5   Be capable of learning the use of calf skin in leather products

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

1. Course and its processes:
Instructor gives information on types of leather, using samples and visual presentation. Students complete the required preparatory work for the following lesson. Instructor informs the students on using leather types with alternative materials and achieves the participation of students in the lesson by sustaining their comments on the subject.
2. Research Topics and Presentations:
Instructor explains the research methods within the Leather and Leather Products Material Knowledge course and the preparations made for the research are checked. Students make visual and literary presentations of their researches on designated date. Research files are handed in.

Course Policies and Rules

1.There is an 80 % obligation in attendance to lesson.
2. All plagiarism attempts and actions would end up in disciplinary punishment
3. If one doesn t hand over the required sketch- design studies on time, the evaluation would be carried out by taking this into consideration. But the student is supposed to hand over required things.
4. For late project deliveries, decreasing a letter grade for each day will be applied.
