Course Objective

The aims of this course are students to have the knowledge and the ability to visualize in footwear and leather craft work production group; generating creative ideas on design by the sample projects on specified themes, performing atelier study on course of the proceeding of design, methods about searching on the topic, how to make the provided knowledge active in design process, determining the design problems, teaching problem solving and different designing methods.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Have the knowledge and the ability to visualize in footwear and leather craft work production group
2   Perform research and observation on the specified theme and use these in designing
3   Determine the target group, prepare an image sheet and a colour scheme by original and creative ideas, and use these in their designs in accordance with the specified theme
4   Perform technical and detail analysis and use this knowledge in atelier study
5   Determine the problems in design process and make solution suggestions
6   Take part in the evaluations performed in the lesson, have a critical perspective and make comments on the other project designs
7   Defend his / her designs and presentations, have the ability of expressing his / her ideas literally or visually in front of the evaluation jury within the scope of Footwear and Leather craft Product Design III.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

The lecturer of this course performs studies for teaching students the design principles and design process applications via sample projects; target groups are determined and the knowledge is supported by the research. Two projects are prepared by aiming different doctrines. The steps of the design process are;

Course Policies and Rules

1.There is an 80 % obligation in attendance to lesson.
2. All plagiarism attempts and actions would end up in disciplinary punishment
3. If one doesn t hand over the required sketch- design studies on time, the evaluation would be carried out by taking this into consideration. But the student is supposed to hand over required things.
4. For late project deliveries, decreasing a letter grade for each day will be applied.
