Course Objective

The aim of this course is to have the students realize the conservation culture in Turkey and in the world; to introduce the basic concepts related to conservation; to have the students examine the process phases in conservation applications and the planning of conservation process.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

The aim is to get the students to attend the classes at a maximum level, and have them comprehend the subjects by researching and discussing. Accordingly, the students are informed about the 15-week program in the first lesson and they are asked to come to class ready for the subject to be studied every week. So, in the lesson the students are able to discuss and exchange ideas, and the instructor guides them. An application study is done on a sample textile by planning conservation process.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

A mid-term and a final exam will be given about the theoretically taught subjects in the lessons. Besides, the students are asked to prepare an applied homework. The pass grade will be determined by the marks which the students get from the mid-term, homework and the final exam.

Assessment Criteria

The mid-term, the homework and the final will be evaluated out of 100. The 20% of the mid-term, the 20% of the homework and the 60% of the final will determine the pass grade. The students will be informed about the values of the questions to be asked in the two exams.

Course Policies and Rules

80 % attendance is compulsory.
Before the end of the term, in the last 15 days, students will be able to learn their attendance. The students who have failed due to absenteeism will not be admitted the final exam.
At the end of each lesson, the next one s subject is given to the students as study and research subject. So, students come to the next lesson ready.
Students who are on sick leave will be considered absent, except the mid-term and the final exams.
By no means is the student given the exam again, if he does not take the mid-term or/and the final without any excuse.
