Course Objective

The aim of this course is to teach the students the history of common ceramics-tile art, ceramics-tile raw materials, how to classify them, how to prepare initial mud, and initial shaping methods theoretically.

1   know our regional and local cultural assets,
2   research objects from different cultures,
3   design a new product by using our cultural assets,
4   produce a new product for tourism using our cultural assets,
5   do mass production and prepare a good presentation.

In this course, the subjects within the program will be taught theoretically in the laboratory with students participation. Furthermore, when necessary, students will be able to see the materials visually.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

Because of being a theoretical course, we will make use of lecture notes and resources. Moreover, a bazzite shaping centre will be chosen and a research project on earthenware production will be prepared.

Assessment Criteria

Mid term, the project and the final exam will be considered in evaluation.

Course Policies and Rules

Due to its being a theoretical course, at the end of each lesson students will be asked to give a knowledge recycle about the lesson. So, the students will always concentrate on the lesson. Participations will be evaluated according to the criteria mentioned above. The next lesson s subject will be given to the students so that they will make preliminary preparation.
