Course Objective

The aim of this course is to teach the students Iznik tiles and their periodic features technically, also have them research the formation, painting and glazing of Iznik tiles.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   use frit in Iznik tiles and know their features technically,
2   reproduce Iznik tiles according to the periods,
3   know the ceramic and quartz used in Iznik tiles technically,
4   research the organics which may have been used in the formation of Iznik tiles and apply them,
5   make applications of painting, glazing etc. of Iznik tiles.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

In this course, the subjects within the program will be taught theoretically and practically. Applications will be heavily made on the mud, painting and glazing stages of Kütahya and Iznik tiles.
The results of glazing tryouts will be disputed in class.

The course will be taught in a laboratory, so the environment should provide an effective study atmosphere and it will be necessary to obey the rules set before. Attendance is compulsory.
