Course Objective

The aim of this course is to teach the students Kütahya tiles and their periodic features technically; to reproduce them according to periods. Also, we aim to teach the students the formation, painting and glazing features of Iznik tiles and to apply them.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   know the Kütahya tiles and their periodic features technically,
2   reproduce Kütahya tiles according to the periods,
3   know how to prepare paint for Kütahya tiles,
4   learn the periodic features of Iznik tiles and do their formations,
5   do the painting and glazing practices of iznik tiles.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

In this course, the subjects within the program will be taught theoretically and practically. Applications will be heavily made on the mud, painting and glazing stages of Kütahya and Iznik tiles.
The results of glazing tryouts will be disputed in class.

Because of being both a theoretical and a practical course, the evaluation will be made as both theoretically and the assessment of practicing results.

The course will be taught in a laboratory, so the environment should provide an effective study atmosphere and it will be necessary to obey the rules set before. Attendance is compulsory.
