Course Objective

Industrial and organizational psychology is the scientific study of employees, workplaces, and organizations. The aim of this course is to provide deepen knowledge to learners in order to contribute to an organization's success by improving the performance and well-being of employees. It focuses on how behaviors and attitudes can be improved through hiring practices, training programs, and feedback systems. It also helps organizations transition among periods of change and development.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Understand the complex, broad base of knowledge in industrial and work psychology in order to analyze problems in the work place.
2   Examine the role of work environment in performance, job satisfaction, health.
3   Evaluate the key strategic research findings in the field to be able to apply them in real life.
4   Investigate the latest developments in industrial and work psychology literature
5   Analyze academic journals in order to improve their academic working skills
6   Demonstrate high communication skills in presenting an analysis

Assessment Criteria

1. Mid-term will be based on understanding, synthesis and evaluation of the material discussed in class.
2. Each student will prepare and conduct an analysis of a specified number of peer-reviewed journal articles and/or books according to a pre-designated schedule.
3. Presentations will be assessed on preparation, understanding, knowledge, capacity to structure, oral communication skills, ability to respond to questions and manage discussion.
