Course Objective


The aim of this course is to present the main approaches in film criticism; to deal and examine criticism methods such as newspaper, historical, auteur, semiological, sociological, psychoanalytical, and do this comparatively with their position in Turkey.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Illustrating cultural presentations in films,
2   Discovering and examining the meaning and visual effects of political and social representations,
3   Dealing the most important contemporary criticism theories on modern consumer societies and assessing them profoundly and philosophically,
4   Dealing with the art in society with a critical approach,
5   Dealing and assessing the films in modern societies and in Turkey comparatively.
