Course Objective

Turkish Cinema History III course has been opened as a common and theoretical lesson for all departments of Department of Film Design.
The aim, content and expected contribution to the students of this course is as follows:
Students taking this course are expected to
1. explain the cultural changes in Turkish cinema especially after 1980,
2. know the differences between Yeşilçam cinema and new age Turkish cinema, comprehend and indicate the novelties that the changing economy has brought to film sector,
3. determine changing dynamics in Turkish cinema since 1994, and understand the differences between these two periods,
4. indicate the reasons of changes in Turkish cinema, and understand the social, historical and economic aspects of these changes; and indicate what these new subjects and features mean in our cinema,
5. understand and comment on the changes, Turkish cinema have experienced, by sample films.


Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   identify and explain the changes in Turkish cinema especially after 1980,
2   . know and classify Turkish cinema in accordance with its production relations,
3   . identify the differences between Yeşilçam cinema and New Age Turkish cinema, compare, discuss and comment on these differences,
4   explain and exemplify the changing economic structure of Turkish cinema and the novelties that it has brought to film sector,
5   explain, define, correlate and distinguish the changing dynamics in Turkish cinema after 1994,
6   . the novelties in Turkish cinema in 2000s. Indicate, criticize, distinguish, discuss, compare the differences in accordance with social, historical and economic aspects,
7   indicate the general changes in Turkish cinema in accordance with theme and topics; compare, classify, comment and analyse the changes by sample films.
