Course Objective

With this course, it is aimed to give the student the knowledge and skills to perform newborn hearing screening.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Describes newborn hearing screening protocol.
2   Describes a suitable environment in which newborn hearing screening test is performed.
3   Knows automatic otoacoustic emission and brainstem auditory evoked devices used to newborn hearing screening.
4   Explains the reults of Newborn Hearing Screening to the family in an appropriate manner.
5   Guides the family with the newborn hearing screening result in an appropriate manner.
6   Enters the National Newborn Hearing Screening results to the central system (Ministry of Health for Mother and Child Health Data Portal input) can be done.

2 Approach to Newborn baby
3 Newborn hearing screening protocol
4 Preparing to new-born screening
5 Otoacoustic emissions, use of automatic neonatal otoacoustic emission device
6 Conditions that prevent emission monitoring
7 Use of automated auditory evoked brainstem potential instrument, scanning with A-ABR
8 Midterm Exam
9 Screening babies with risk factors
10 Screening of the outpatient
11 The way to follow after the automatic neonatal otoacoustic emission test and the interpretation of the auditory evoked brainstem potential test results
12 Communication with parents
13 The role of the audiometrist in reporting the screening results to the family.
14 Registration of babies tested according to the National Newborn Hearing Screening protocol to the central system, computer access
15 Errors in NHSP and correction of these errors / Case studies
