Course Objective

The objective of this course is to analyze political thoughts which have been produced
in Western world following Ancient Greek political thought and from French Revolution
to the end of 19th century.In this framework, concepts such as liberalism, democracy
and emergence of socialism will be taken into consideration in terms of modernity.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to apply the modern methods writing and investigating history by being loyal to scientific ethical rules.
2   To be able to understand the importance of the Ancient Greek political thought on way to interpret modern world.
3   To be able to consider effects of Roman political thought and Christian political thought on western political thought.
4   To be able to analyze how the concepts such as justice, power, liberty and equality are discussed by different thinkers and from the side of different ideologies.
5   To be able to analyze the conditions which paved way for the emergence of totalitarian ideologies such as fascism and national socialism; then s/he knows about the historical backround of anarchosyndicalism and social state.
