Course Objective

The aim in this lesson is giving information about details of decor, costume forms, textures, materials, cutting and sewing of opera history designs formed by fictions of past and the future in Performing Arts. Within the concept of clothing, all kinds of clothing materials like shoes, hats, etc., it is aimed to teach opera history theories required in order to design stage costumes for artwork parallel to theater history,

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   1.As a result of education given with this lesson, student is expected to...Learn "opera history" theories required to design stage costumes for the artwork in the parallel of decor History
2   2.Possess the cultural knowledge that will form the base of Performing Arts
3   3.Possess knowledge about innovative, contemporary approaches to Performing Arts by observation of literary work belong to art of theater adapted to cinema, visuals belong to theater shows, historical films cover the related periods, pieces of performance arts and documentaries
4   4.Be able to use the theoretical information he/she learned in the field of Performing Arts and present this information to his/her audience via design applications by learning chronological clothing properties
5   5.Possess theoretical knowledge regarding "other branches of arts" in the performance arts which is an interdisciplinary art branch

Concepts will be conveyed with presentation technique; all concepts will be illustrated and supported by printed visual media and various products of visual arts (film, theater).

Assessment Criteria

At this course, the theoretical information related to lighting design and stage effects will be transferred through explaining and sharing the lecture notes, scientific researches about the issue, direct or indirect, local and international references. Through the assignments and exams feedback will be received and evaluated accordingly.

1.70% Attendence is compulsory.
2. All kind of plagiarism attempt or action will result in disciplinary penalty.
3.For delayed delivery of the assignments and projects; points will be deducted which is equivalent to a letter grade per day for each day of delayed delivery.
