Course Objective

Exploring the sound recording technology and impact of the inventions that changed the way we listen. Investigating historical process of sound recordings. Recognizing software and hardware of sound recording technology used even in daily life. Special sound formats and delivery systems.

2   Recognize recording hardware in these processes
3   Associate the relationship between today's technology and opportunities at that time provided by the hardware

3 The adventure of mechanical-electrical recorders: To Istanbul from Anatolia
4 Broadcasting and radio recording
5 Pick-up and magnetic recorders
6 Portable recorders: The Walkman technology
7 Midterm Exam
8 Understanding the present recording technology: Examples of using different techniques to record music
9 Professional sound recording: Studio control rooms, basic hardware and connections
10 Relationship between frequency and amplitude
11 Spatial sound technology: To surround from mono
12 Digital audio and fundamental concepts
13 Optical recording media: Formats and technology to Blu-ray from CD
14 Computer audio technology and internet: Formats and filing. Basic audio editing and mastering

Technical details which are mentioned in the book, within the framework of opportunities available, will be displayed in during the course. The main demonstration will be provided with pictures using a slide show.

It is forbidden to take for students who come after starting time of the course until an interval will be given. At the end of each lecture topics will be covered in the next lesson and the students are offered as a subject of their studies. The course begins before the first presentation of the studies.
